It is similar to the swords produced by Nashville Plow Works during the War. Weapons used by the Confederacy tended to be heavier and more cumbersome than their Northern counterparts – in part due to often using materials at hand (i.e., a plow tine) to craft weapons and, in part, due to preference of procurement officers. The artillery Sword produced by Nashville Plow Works is a good example of a heavy duty sword. Patterned after Roman swords, they were manufactured by the Sharp and Hamilton Company of Nashville, TN and sold under the name “Nashville Plow Works” .\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003eThe reproduction offered here has carefully followed the original swords; there is a broad, double edge blade and heavy brass handle and guard. The guard has the letters “C” and “S” stamped on opposite ends of the guard.
