Happogata means 8 sided blade and each of the three shuriken in this 3-piece set feature 8 spear-point blades. Four of the blades have broad bases and these alternate between four blades with much narrower bases to create a unique and eye-catching visual look. The tips of each blade are very sharp. Constructed from high quality stainless steel in a black anodized finish, these throwers are highly effective at a range of up to 33 feet. Set comes with a FREE nylon belt-strap carrying case.
Technically known as hira shuriken (opposed to bo shuriken, straight spike-like blades with either one or two pointed ends which would vary in size from short needles to broad knives ), ninja throwing stars are thin metal plates with anywhere from three to as many as eight points radiating out from the center. Contrary to popular belief, hira shuriken typically cannot penetrate deeply enough to kill and historically have been used primarily for wounding or harassing an enemy.
